Mailboxes

Create and manage a short-lived inbox using its private possession cookies.

POST /mailboxes

Send JSON, including an empty object for defaults. This creates a random address; no registration, password, domain, or custom username is accepted. The response issues only a mailbox-scoped cookie. You must select the new inbox before reading it.

Field / endpointDetails
lifetime_minutesOptional integer, 1–10. Omit for the current default (10 minutes).
201 responsedata.mailbox contains id, address, kind, expires_at and max_expires_at. Save Set-Cookie securely.
Example
curl --fail-with-body -sS -c cookies.txt \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"lifetime_minutes":10}' 'https://inboxflick.com/v1/mailboxes'

POST /mailboxes/{mailbox_id}/select

Send the scoped cookie returned for this exact mailbox, then preserve the returned current-inbox cookie. Selecting by ID without the corresponding cookie returns 401. Selecting another inbox changes the current inbox for this jar.

Example
curl --fail-with-body -sS -b cookies.txt -c cookies.txt \
  -X POST 'https://inboxflick.com/v1/mailboxes/MAILBOX_ID/select'

GET /mailboxes/current

Returns the selected mailbox. 401 means the session is missing, invalid, expired or destroyed.

Example
curl --fail-with-body -sS -b cookies.txt 'https://inboxflick.com/v1/mailboxes/current'

PATCH /mailboxes/current

Requires a current-inbox cookie. extension_minutes is required (integer 1–10). Extend while the mailbox is still alive; expiry never goes beyond max_expires_at (60 minutes from creation). Inspect the returned timestamp instead of assuming all requested minutes were granted.

Example
curl --fail-with-body -sS -b cookies.txt \
  -X PATCH -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"extension_minutes":10}' 'https://inboxflick.com/v1/mailboxes/current'

DELETE /mailboxes/current

Permanently destroy the selected inbox and its messages. This is irreversible; use only for your own disposable tests. Returns 204 with no body, and clears the session cookie. Delete the local jar when finished.

Example
curl --fail-with-body -sS -b cookies.txt -c cookies.txt \
  -X DELETE 'https://inboxflick.com/v1/mailboxes/current'
# After a successful 204:
rm -f cookies.txt
